I bet you a dollar you can't read this without laughing

This little book is awesome. As a perfectly averagely heighted woman (the mighty 5'4"), I am just on the bubble of being short. However, this height did not come to me until I was about 17, so most of my life I was always either the, or close to the, shortest around. I never stopped to pause at how many awesome things that meant before it was too late and they were gone. Now I am just another normal sized person. Oh regret... However, if you are short, or know someone who is short, grab this baby up NOW and start appreciating all the cool bene's of being bitty.

This book has a great hand drawn illustrations that are simple, uber creative and witty, and have the coolest little details. My favorite reason I'd Rather Be Short? "You are automatically awesome at hide-and-seek."

It is colorful and super nice. Would be a great gift for anyone smaller than the average bear.

Amazing!

Perfect for giggles and gifts – I loved the humor and wit inherent throughout the book (plus it's always good to be reminded why being short is awesome!). Couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole thing!

I ordered a couple copies of this book, intending to save some for Christmas gifts, but I immediately gave away my extras to fellow short friends. Had to share!

Great stocking stuffer for your petite friends & family!

This would be an adorable gift for shorter folks! I expected it to be cutesy but not anywhere near as funny as it was - there were several times during reading it when I laughed out loud (which probably looked a little odd since I was reading it in public, but oh well!). It's spot on and is also great at reframing something that's easy to view as a negative - I could see it being a great gift for a teen girl insecure about her height.

I hate Bryon Douglas.

The first time I read this book I was 13 and I loved it. I couldn't relate and it angered the hell out of me but u loved it anyway. I read it again at 15 and I got a new feeling because I understood what it was like to lose friends and now I'm a senior and about to go off to college and I'm more pissed than the first time I read it and I just can't believe how things turn out. I hate bryon Douglas and I will hate bryon Douglas for the rest of my life to grow apart from your friends is one thing but friends don't turn on friends. I hate him and everything does and everything he stands for and I hate how he tries to justify his actions. I hate him.

A Powerful and Compelling Coming of Age Story

"That was Then, This is Now" centers around the lives of four adolescents. There is the narrator, Byron Douglas, a handsome charming but ultimately selfish and self-absorbed teenager. There is Mark, whom Byron's mother adopted for her own and who is Byron's best friend. Mark's penchant for mischief is too often offset by his winning smile, and he maintains a fierce loyalty to his friends. The two minor but equally important characters are Cathy, a precocious young woman who falls in love with Byron, and her younger brother M&M, a sensitive and soulful hippie wannabe.

The book moves in different actions so that it seems we're reading two novels about two brothers and best friends. In the first novel, Mark and Byron are always by each other's side, and together they witness the fearsome murder of their good friend Charlie, which scars both. In the second novel, there's a love triangle -- Byron has fallen deeply in love with Cathy, and Mark feels abandoned. The novel comes to a climax when Byron commits an act that will forever severe his relationship with both Mark and Cathy.

Like in "The Outsiders", SE Hinton has a gift for understanding and speaking the language of troubled adolescent boys, making us think she is in fact one herself. And the writing is pristine and polished, as always. But the characters are far less compelling than the ones we were entranced by in "The Outsiders," and the plot far more fragile and broken.

Still, many a teenager will find "That was Then, This is Now" speaks to them in the most haunting manner possible.

Good service.

This was very good quality service. After I finished the book, I wanted to hurl it across the room (in a good way, you know how us book lovers are, very passionate) and scream. But, I couldn't, because I was in class. This story was very, very good. One of my favorites by S.E. Hinton. I would recommend it to fans of The Outsiders, or any of her other books really. Along with that, anyone who enjoys Realistic-Fiction, and coming of age type stories.

While Dinsmoor wrote a very comprehensive handbook on Greek architecture, it is a bit dated at this point. Ancient Greek Architects at work was a valuable read for me not only in my Greek architecture survey class, but also as I prepared for my MA exams in Classical Archaeology. This book goes over all aspects of basic ordinary least squares (OLS) regression, assuming a basic statistics background. Gordon uses Stata as her software of choice, but includes an appendix of translating commands across SPSS, SAS, and Stata for users of those other programs. Unlike some other statistics books that I have used as a graduate student in the social sciences, this book combines both software commands and actual theory to teach you not only how to execute a regression, but also to fundamentally understand where these coefficients come from and how to interpret them. Gordon covers bivariate and multivariate regression, dummy variables, interactions, nonlinearity, and regression assumptions as well as a basic introduction to Stata.

Gordon does include some basic proofs, which some students may find confusing, but it is often clear that the student should understand the underlying principle instead of the algebraic proof.

This book does NOT cover over forms of regression (logit, probit, etc.), so just be aware.

What a great book to have when you go to Big Bend! I used this book to research the trails we wanted to hike before we got there. Lots of information on how to follow the trails that are not as clearly marked. Also good info on extra things to see when on some trails. This book is a great investment if you plan on hiking a lot in Big Bend.

Great book to help plan your trip and use your time efficiently

Amazing book. I've been on two trips to Big Bend NP and this book helped me use our time efficiently while there. It's very accurate on the trail lengths and difficulty. This last trip was 4 days long and we planned 1 "long" hike in the morning and 2 or more shorter trails during the afternoon/evening and this book helped us get as many in as possible. If you haven't been to Big Bend you need to do so. It's one of those lifetime memories you'll love to share with friends and family

Couldn't ask for a better guidebook!

Packed full of great, useful info! It is helping so much in planning my trip to Big Bend!! The photos in the book are insanely gorgeous and the info is awesome. The book gives you info on how long trails are one way, how strenuous the hikes are, how heavy "traffic" will be, and what to watch out for. Very useful and I will use this for many years to come to plan many more trips out there!
